Yokai : Prickles
This drawing was inspired by yokai in a series of Japanese Edo period wood sculptures made in dozens of locations throughout Iwaki City in Fukushima Prefecture, but legend has it these works all hail from Gyokugozan Itokuin temple in Izumi-machi, Iwaki City. When Buddhism was abolished and the temple was shut down these statues are thought to have been inherited by the locals. It is not known what role these statues played during their time at the temple.
